Local children have a unique opportunity to build their own home libraries through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Montgomery County. This literacy initiative provides free books to help foster early reading habits in the community's youngest residents.
The program is designed for children from birth up to age five. Once enrolled, participants receive one high-quality, age-appropriate book delivered to their home each month at no cost to the family. Each book is selected by a panel of early childhood literacy experts to ensure it meets the developmental needs of the child.
Securing a spot in the program is a straightforward process for local residents. Parents and guardians can register their children online through the official Imagination Library of Montgomery County website. After the initial registration is processed, the first book, the classic title The Little Engine That Could, typically arrives in the mail within eight to ten weeks.
