After more than 16 years serving the Kipps Elementary School community, Glen Chilcote has been named the school's next principal! 🦘

Mr. Chilcote has served Kipps as a teacher, instructional leader, administrator, and mentor. Most recently, he served as interim principal of Kipps Elementary while also leading the MCPS PK-12 fine arts programs as administrator of fine arts.

Graduation weekend has arrived for the MCPS Class of 2026! 🎓

Eastern Montgomery High School will kick off this year’s ceremonies tonight at 6:30pm in the EMHS football stadium.

Additional ceremonies will take place Saturday, May 30:

➡️ Blacksburg High School: 8:30am at Cassell Coliseum, Virginia Tech

➡️ Christiansburg High School: 11:45am at Cassell Coliseum, Virginia Tech

➡️ Auburn High School: 3:00pm in the AHS gym

Families attending ceremonies at Cassell Coliseum are encouraged to review the graduation parking map before arriving on campus. 🗺️ A clear bag policy is in effect at Cassell Coliseum.

Celebrate the Blacksburg High School Scholastic Bowl Team at the Battle of the Brains final game on May 31, 2026, at Blacksburg Macado’s. Gathering begins at 11:00 a.m.; broadcast starts at 11:30 a.m.
Montgomery County children will have access to several summer nutrition programs this summer, including free onsite meals, SUN Meal Kits, and additional food assistance opportunities through Feeding Southwest Virginia. 🍎

Free meals for children 18 years old and younger will be available at select MCPS locations throughout June, July, and early August. SUN Meal Kits with seven breakfasts and seven lunches will also be available weekly for pickup.
