On Tuesday, March 17, all MCPS schools and buildings will be closed for students and 10-month staff - Code Orange. 11 and 12-month employees may report to work 2 hours late.

This decision was made based on additional reports of black ice, along with lingering low temperatures, and the potential for snow squalls today.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Sincerely,

Dear MCPS Community,

Due to the current weather conditions and anticipated overnight below-freezing temperatures, on Tuesday, March 17, all MCPS schools and buildings will open two hours late for students and 10-month staff - Code Blue. All 11 and 12-month non-instructional staff may report to work one hour late.

Since temperatures are expected to be below freezing in the morning, a two-hour delay will help with melting and give our staff time to prepare parking lots and sidewalks.

We are making this decision now to allow families and staff to prepare for a two-hour delay.

Sincerely,

Kelly Guempel, Ed.D.
Superintendent
